Matt Gabel received a BFA in illustration from The School of Visual Arts, Manhattan, NY. He has worked for many commercial art firms, publications and has been commissioned for his fine art works.
Matt’s resume includes working for Willowisp Press, School Book Fairs, T-Wall Sports Memorabilia and TVKO a derivative of HBO Boxing. He also painted for world renowned artist Jeff Koons. Matt tried his own hand at contemporary art and has sold paintings throughout his efforts. Matt’s paintings have won awards and are in numerous private collections. He continues to paint passionately and pursues fine art, most recently with his mixed media collage pieces which he currently works on.
Matt's artistic process starts by laying down color, shape, and imagery in a spontaneous, abstract method. He continues to work on his pieces through innovation until he finds an aesthetically pleasing image. Finally and most importantly, he pulls the concept all together so it makes sense to him. As an experienced artist, he has applied many different techniques, mediums, and inspirations to his work. He is encouraged by the prospect of continual growth in his art and creation.
